Q&A with Christian College

Students from prep to year 12 learn in a nurturing, collegiate atmosphere at Christian College Geelong.

How important is it to start a child’s education off right from year prep?

The first steps in any journey are among the most important – they can determine the direction, set the pace and instill a sense of purpose and motivation in the traveler as they move ahead.

And so it is with children beginning their journey in education. Providing the basic building blocks of learning is a necessity, of course, but beyond that, we at Christian College Geelong believe in taking a whole, rounded approach that stimulates curiosity and imagination and helps spark engagement and inspiration.

How can students benefit from starting their education journey at Christian College Geelong?

Christian College Geelong’s learning environments are set up in such a way to make education real, relevant and meaningful, drawing upon children’s interests in ways that allow them to think deeply, construct ideas, take risks and solve problems. This approach fosters a true interest in learning, one that can be nurtured and maintained over the course of a child’s education.

What sets the Christian College Prep curriculum a part from other schools?

Christian College Geelong is proud to offer a vast array of specialist subject offerings, commencing right from Prep. These include an Art, Technology and Design Program, Specialist Classroom Music, a Japanese Language Program, Specialist Library classes, a Health, Physical Education and Sports program, and Bush Prep experiences, all taught by specialised and dedicated teachers.

What values does the College instil in students?

Our goal at Christian College Geelong, is to help students identify fully with God’s purpose and meaning of their lives, so they can directly contribute to making our world a better place.

At our College, we call this doing ‘good work’, and along with our five core values of Faith, Grace, Hope, Love and Truth, this provides the foundation for our Vision Statement:

‘At the end of their journey at Christian College, our students will be ready to make a positive difference to the lives of others, through ‘good work’ that is excellent, ethical and engaged in local, national and global contexts.’

How do the staff contribute to the student’s experience?

Our staff and teachers at Christian College Geelong are committed to ensuring that a young student’s first experiences at our College, as they make their transition from Kindergarten to Prep, are positive. The passion and dedication of our staff plays a pivotal role in the educational journey of our students and they take their role as educators seriously, viewing it as a privilege and a joy.

What sort of an education follows Prep students at Christian College?

A successful student at our College is not simply one who gets a good job, and is blessed with wealth and possessions. Nor is a student’s time with us defined by a ‘score’ at the end of their studies. We believe education is a journey of growth, where students transform into not only good learners, but good people. At the end of their journey at Christian College, our students will be ready to make a positive difference to the lives of others, through ‘good work’ that is excellent, ethical and engaged in local, national and global contexts. This is ‘The Learning That Matters’.”

We warmly encourage you to join our Christian College family, and experience this remarkable journey for yourself.
