Rebecca Casson will take over as Master Builders’ chief executive officer after six years leading Committee for Geelong.
Ms Casson takes over the role early next year from Radley de Silva, who was CEO for five years and was with Master Builders a total of 17 years.
Master Builders president Melanie Fasham in October announced the appointment of Ms Casson.
“Construction is critical to the state’s economy, being the largest full time employer in Victoria, supporting more than 280,000 jobs,” Ms Fasham said.
“This appointment will result in Master Builders continuing to expand our leadership role representing the interests of the industry and the people who work in it, as well as further contributing to the industry through our extensive training program.“
Ms Casson has more than 20 years’ experience working for government, industry and not-for-profit organisations in Australia, the UK and USA.
“Her extensive history of advocacy and outstanding organisational skills make her an exceptional appointment,” Ms Fasham said.
Committee for Geelong chair Dan Simmonds congratulated Ms Casson on her new role and thanked her for increasing the influence of the committee during her six years as CEO.
“The Committee has achieved terrific outcomes during Rebecca’s tenure and we are very proud to have had such a truly credentialed individual driving the organisation during this critical period in Geelong’s development,” Mr Simmonds said.
“I think that is a great reflection of the way Rebecca is regarded by influential figures in business and the broader community.”
Ms Casson “worked tirelessly” to “drive a visionary future for Geelong” through advocacy campaigns and the Winning from Second initiative, Mr Simmonds said.
